How to Write for Voice Search, Three Suggestions

"Siri, how do I write for voice search?" That is what 2019 sounds like.

The top things you can do to write for voice search is to write how you speak, use specific content and answer the question. It’s not enough to only use one to two key words in writing.

1. Write how you speak

Voice search isn't like a typed query. When people use voice search they use complete sentences for their questions.

For example, "best brush for dog" becomes "what is the best brush for a dog"

Katie Walsh, a marketer for Plexus, recommends pulling in the customer support team and consulting with them to find frequently asked questions by customers. Then write those questions down in the exact wording it was first asked.

Another way to do this is use tools available on the internet.

  • answer the public

  • Uber suggests

  • keyword planner

These are just a few suggestions.

2. Be Specific

Because people mainly use voice text when they have a specific intent start writing more pages with specific topics or answers.

Another way to think of this in a more marketplace approach is to create a pages with the consumer journey in mind.

Benu Aggarwarl, president of Milestone Inc. illustrated this the SMX Voice Search Advanced 2018 conference.

The customer goes from informational intent to Navigational Intent and then to Transactional intent.

3. Answer the question

People want to find answers fast, and they want a specific answer. Use your first or second sentence to answer the question.
